Four deliverables¶
Supplemental reference · Browse supplements · Current report
For the College of Information Science Computing Resources Working Group. Point people: Barney Maccabe and Greg Chism, Faculty Director of Instructional Computing.
Use these as working drafts. Each needs an agreed lead, source checks and group review; none is a completed college assessment or endorsed recommendation.
1. Resource inventory¶
Review the inventory · Download CSV
Record hardware, software, data, cloud, personnel and support. For every entry, establish users, access, owner, funding, costs, limitations and the date checked. Keep “unknown” visible.
2. Needs and gaps assessment¶
Review the assessment framework · Prepare a needs brief · Blank needs register
Gather current and anticipated research and classroom requirements, including student perspectives. Record barriers, impact, timing, supporting evidence and feasible alternatives. Summarize coverage and uncertainty before calling a gap college-wide.
3. Portfolio of approaches¶
Evaluate better use of existing resources, shared services, collaboration, staffing models and new technology. Compare benefits, prerequisites, support, recurring obligations, accessibility and a small test that would inform the decision.
4. Recommendations¶
Review proposed actions · Recommendation template
Separate actions the college can pursue from opportunities requiring university participation. For each: state evidence, benefit, owner role, dependencies, effort, funding status and a measure of success.
Milestones and review¶
- End of Fall 2026 semester: a preliminary draft of each deliverable.
- Early Spring 2027: refine and circulate within the college.
- University discussions: carry forward agreed college priorities when those discussions are scheduled.
